Abstract

"Jedal" is one of the most influential words in the Quranic worldview, which is used about 29 times in the Holy Quran in various forms. "Semantic component" is one of the theories of structural semantics, which enters the deeper semantic layers of words by relying on intra-textual relationships. Considering the effective role of "Jedal" in accepting or rejecting the divine call and its effect on the fate of human beings, it is necessary to explain the components of this word in the Quran. The present article aims to provide a methodical analysis of this concept in the Holy Qur'an by an analytical descriptive style, relying on the model of component analysis and reflection on the companions of the word "Jedal". In this research, it appears that most of the uses of the word "Jedal" in the Qur'an are of the false type, and the "Jedal Ahsan" (best disputation) is based on clear signs and solid reasons and has a solid origin. In the axis of coexistence, the word "Jedal" has been semantically connected with many key words. Accuracy in these co-occurrences shows that the word "Allah" is at the top of all key words in the semantic field of "Jedal".
