Objective: Stylistics is one of the modern approaches in literary criticism that seeks, through the study of textual structure and the analysis of linguistic, intellectual, and literary elements, to uncover the aesthetic, emotional, and semantic layers of a literary work. One of the effective elements in enriching and beautifying literary texts is the use of the words, concepts, and themes of Quranic verses. Since al-Samawi, a contemporary Arab poet, has been influenced by Quranic teachings and expressions in many of his poems, the present study aims to examine the reflection of Quranic words and concepts in his poetry and to explain their role in embellishing his language and deepening the poetic content.
Methodology: This study is based on a descriptive-analytical method. To this end, those poems of al-Samawi that bear a Quranic tone and character were selected and examined at three levels of stylistic analysis: linguistic, intellectual, and literary. Within this approach, the study analyzes the presence of Quranic vocabulary, concepts, images, and themes in the structure of the poet’s work.
Results: The findings indicate that al-Samawi has shaped his poetic language in accordance with his intellectual, educational, ethical, and religious aims. In expressing his intended concepts, he employs Quranic words and meanings and, by linking poetic language with revelatory concepts, conveys his intellectual and emotional messages to the reader. Moreover, the use of Quranic elements in his poetry has strengthened the semantic, literary, and aesthetic dimensions of his poems.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, al-Samawi’s familiarity and close engagement with the Holy Quran and religious texts have played a fundamental role in shaping the language, thought, and literary structure of his poetry. The reflection of Quranic verses and concepts in his poems has not only contributed to the embellishment of language and the literary richness of the work, but has also provided a means for conveying ethical, educational, and religious messages. Therefore, al-Samawi’s poetry may be regarded as a prominent example of the connection between contemporary Arabic poetry and the Quranic heritage.
